Following a spate of internship requests, we decided to set up our own internship program to help people new to the music industry to figure out what their interests are, and to give them an opportunity to start gaining useful experience and contacts. The program involves our interns working as a team to set up their own record label imprint, scouting an artist, and releasing a single.

We are delighted to announce that, this coming year, our internship project has received support from Youth Music’s Incubator Fund, thanks to funding from players of People’s Postcode Lottery. In 2021, we will support and fund a group of 6 interns through the process of forming their own label and releasing a single, with the program delivery being entirely online. Details of the program are as follows:

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

  • Work with your colleagues to develop a label brand, scout an artist and release a track

  • Weekly Zoom sessions with Kaleidoscope as we guide you through the process

  • Weekly webinars with a panel of industry experts covering a vast range of topics, from publishing to promotion.

  • 1-2-1 guidance to help you figure out your potential career path in the industry

  • We will also invite a number of unsuccessful applicants to 'audit' the programme - sitting in on our weekly webinars, and viewing online content

HOURS AND RENUMERATION

  • You will be expected to commit 3 hours per week to the program, most of which will be contact time with Kaleidoscope's mentors and our guest panels

  • We will pay £11 per hour for these hours

  • The internship will be completed over 12 weeks

  • Some independent working may be required at times

  • We expect the internship to commence in the week of 11th January 2021

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

  • Anybody who is interested in working in the music industry - no previous experience is required

  • We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups

You can apply by completing this form. If you require this form in any other format, please contact Gareth Williams on gareth[at]kaleidoscope[hyphen]music[dot]co[uk].
